He wrote many poems on all subjects, mostly devotional. He wrote dramas mainly for Children.
He was an active participant in many cultural and literary organisations.
He started in the year 1948, an organisation known as "Sahitya Koota" in Chintamani, which was dedicated for literary activities. Every saturday a pragramme was conducted with either a speech or singing by different people. Thus, with out any break so far the saturday programmes have crossed 2650 weeks. Though Sri Y.S.Gundappa has physically left this world, Sahitya Koota is continuing with active participation of his disciples with his spirit behind them.
